(SOAP) 06. How to View an Asset's Activity Log
If you need to track down when a change was made or who previously held a device, you can view the complete audit trail directly on the asset page.
1. Sign In: Log into your portal account.
2. Navigate: Head to the left-hand menu and select Assets > Computers.
3. In the Asset List, click on the specific item you want to investigate
4. On the left-hand sidebar menu, click on Historical
5. You will see a chronological list of every action taken on that asset, including:
- Date & Time: Exactly when a change occurred.
- User: Who made the change (the administrator or technician).
- Field: Which specific detail was updated (e.g., Status, User, or Location).
- Change: The "Before" and "After" values (e.g., Status changed from check-in to Check-out).
Why check the log? This is incredibly helpful for troubleshooting "lost" assets or verifying how long a laptop has been in service before deciding on a hardware refresh.
